Romário de Souza Faria – known throughout the football world as Romário – is regarded by many as one of the greatest-ever Brazilian footballers of all-time.
With a succession of top-scorer awards, Romario is one of a couple of players to score 1000 career goals.
With his small but stocky frame, he was often compared to Maradona but with a right foot.
The highlight of Romario’s career was no doubt in 1994 when he won the World Cup with Brazil and lifted the Golden Ball as player of the tournament.
The 50-year-old is now a politician in Brazil.
