Angela Merkel, Germany’s first female chancellor of Germany, has refused to take AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine because she is ‘too old’ and doesn’t fit into the under-65 category.
She told German news reporters: “I am 66 years old and do not belong to the recommended group for AstraZeneca.
“I think it is right, in addition to the particularly vulnerable and the elderly, to first invite population groups who cannot keep their distance in their job to be vaccinated.
“We can sit at a great distance from one another during this interview. A kindergarten teacher, a primary school teacher, cannot do that. These are the people who should get their turn in front of someone like me.”
The news is no surprise to the 82 million population, which many have concerns about the vaccine’s effectiveness.
It could also mean Angela Merkel knows something much of the public doesn’t know. We’ll probably never find out in and amongst the mainstream circles.
